ASIFA Drawing Backlog, Part 5 - Brown Sketchbook Edition

So sometimes at drawing sessions I use a brown paper sketchbook, usually when I'm feeling off my game; this way it'll either shake things up and start doing better, or I'll be drawing crappy on much cheaper paper. I'm prone to doodle more there as well. A lot of the stuff in there is kinda hard to see and doesn't scan for crap, but I decided to toss a few of these up.

Friday on the Queens Bound N

Coming home from work yesterday I saw the coolest looking guy ever on the train and decided when I got home I was drawing him, so here he is. As per usual, I didn't leave myself enough room on the page for his feet so his cuffed courdroys and scuffed up shoes are missing, but such is life.

Any guy with enormous portrait tattoos, one of them a lucha libre wrestler, is a winner in my book.

Insert Working Title Here

Okay, here are the first four pages of my current ongoing project which I have yet to title. I actually have two working titles and neither of them are going to stick, so whats the point even choosing one to use here?

There is still a little ink touch up to do on some of these (Pages 3 and 4, I'm looking at you) but these are pretty much done being inked. I'm not planning on color but I am wanting to do a tone. I just haven't decided exactly how I want to do it. Gradients, cell shading, convert to a half tone? I'm definitely taking input. I may actually post a few different versions of the first page when I get to that point. Right now its more about producing pages to have a chance to tone later.
Fortunately I am a little ways ahead of this right now.

ASIFA Drawing Backlog, Part 4

More life drawing from the stack. I was gonna post some other stuff but now I'm too tired and lazy to start scanning it all. These drawings are from over the holidays.

Kintaro

A couple months back I was invited to submit a piece for a show down in Brooklyn, the theme of which was "fairy tale". I had been wanting to do something fish related anyway, so I ended up doing an image of Kintaro riding the Giant Carp. The submission of said piece turned into something of a debacle and ended up as ineligible for the show, but here it is.

I literally brought my box of paints home from the post office about two hours ago, and I'm hoping to get a lot more painting done once I'm all set up for it.

ASIFA Drawing Backlog, Part 3

Yet more from the old life drawing stack. These are from late 2008.

Page 4, Panel 6

Full pages soon to come.

I don't think Issalai looked this latin when I first started drawing her. I blame this new room of mine. The walls are peach, the radiator is turquoise, and I'm constantly craving Mexican food. I need to paint before I start drawing nothing but mariachi bands.
