New Studio, Still Hungry

First one from the new studio in the new apartment - brush pen and ball point pen over a really quick pencil sketch. Once I start putting up stuff from the new book, you'll probably be sick of seeing her.

ASIFA Drawing Backlog, Part 2

More excerpts from the ASIFA Life Drawing sessions. Having a lot of art laying around is kinda handy when you're trying to regularly update and move into a new apartment at the same time.

Dorothy Watercolor

This is still a pretty bad scan of this painting and eventually I'll make a nicer one for my portfolio; I originally did this just for fun and then decided I wanted to do the whole Wizard of Oz group. I've done a Tin Man since and I'm working on Scarecrow, but in the meantime you get the idea.

Reno Sketches

Today, both a pencil drawing and an ink drawing of the main character of my SCAD Senior Project, and a main character of my unfinishable saga Red Crane, Richard "Steel Strings Reno. I think its safe to say hes a bit younger in the pencil drawing...

ASIFA Drawing Backlog, Part 1

Once a week (while they're in session) I go the the ASIFA Life Drawing Workshops down in Chelsea. I've been going for the better part of a year now, and always wanted to post some of the stuff from them "as soon as I had my sketch blog up".

Soon wasn't exactly the operative term there.

So in any case, I've been going back scanning some of the stuff and will be trying to get somewhere close to caught up before sessions start up again the end of next month. I'd like to say you'll see a steady improvement throughout the year, but the fact is you'll probably just see the drawing sessions I ate before I went to (good) and the drawing sessions I went straight from work hungry to (quite bad). These are from the Summer 2008 sessions.

Starting Things Off Right

I've been talking about this for about a year now, but I'm finally starting my sketch blog.

I do most of my drawing in my sketchbook, so there will be no shortage of stuff to put up. I'll probably end up posting some in progress stuff from past projects, and eventually some from my current book.

A few weeks back I started drawing characters I used to draw a lot in college and had a great time. Afterwords, I decided to go a step farther and draw the character I spent the first half of high school drawing. Oh memories! If Hannigan can't be my first post, nobody can.
