Inside The Walls of The SHLPTE

So you know how I'm always talking about this comic and I've only posted four pages? Its just cause scanning takes forever and I've been working on actually drawing it. But it does exist! Here's a little blurry slice of whats going on in my home, the Saddam Hussein Love Palace and Taco Emporium (SHLPTE, prounounced as "Shluptay")

Theres another page going on the wall tomorrow, and then only four pages left! All major artistic operations on this project will conclude in August.

The Products of Television

So since I never really have enough time to do everything that I want to do, I'm getting better at multitasking. I write while I'm either on the train or at work, and when I sit down to watch the shows I keep up with I draw. I do more listening than watching a lot of times.

This I doodled out during the most recent episode of Rescue Me (which is how she ended up with that skirt) and touched up through watching some Burn Notice. I don't think it was originally supposed to be Issa but hey, they have sayings about habits right? I actually ended up accidentally destroying my nib holder trying to switch out nibs, so this is courtesy of nothing but my five-year-old Raphael 8404 brush.

I'm pretty sure that brush is made with hair from the Energizer Bunny.

Wizard of Oz Sketches

I added text to the Tin Man sketches and finished up Scarecrow on my Wizard of Oz-themed hand typeface experiments. Hoping to paint these over the coming week.

I'm not sure how I want to handle Cowardly Lion. In every version except the classic movie, hes an actual lion and not a guy dressed up as a lion. I'll probably end up going the lion route, but part of me wants to play up the human angle and have him some freakishly terrified person who is wearing a plastic lion mask to scare people (which depending on how it was drawn, would either be psychologically disturbing or downright hilarious).

More Old Characters

In the same vein as my first post, heres a drawing of the character I spent most of college drawing. Most of the stuff I did then was all rendered pencil so I kinda just left him that way.

In all honesty, I'm beginning to think maybe I should go back to doing this story when I'm done with my current one instead of going back to Red Crane, it had a lot more range. This is the only group that could have very probably had some sort of major heist centered around joining a dance competition or something.

Blog Banner, In Progress

This is my current thought for a banner at the top of this thing, still not quite done though. Maybe? Its a fun picture either way.
